Bougainville (Special)
August 3, 1944

       Pvt. Clarence W. Higgins of Harlan, Ky and a former employee of Harlan Ice and Refrigation of Harlan is serving with an ordnance ammunition base Service Command in Bougainville,on Solomon Islands.
      Pvt Higgins has been awarded the Good Conduct Medal, while serving in Army's Service of Supply Service.  He has also received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon with a Bronze Star for the Northern campaign. The company receives ammunition from supply ships and issues the ammunition to the forces.
      The son of Mrs Lizzie Higgins, Sunshine, Harlan, County. He entered the army, July 1942 and came overseas in July 1943. He has been stationed in New Hebrides.
